Warren, Mich. — SPX Service Solutions announced plans to open a new, 230,000-sq.-ft. distribution and logistics facility in Romeoville, Ill. The facility will reduce delivery time to customers, while also providing a single consolidation point for deliveries in North America. Commercial operation of the new facility is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2008.

The distribution center will house all of Service Solutions’ aftermarket inventory and will receive product manufactured at SPX North American facilities as well as from their Asian and European manufacturing sites. Product will be consolidated in the facility to provide shipments throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

“We have a growing business in North America, and this new distribution center is a key in providing our customers with the service they have come to expect from SPX,” said Tanvir Arfi, president of Service Solutions Americas. “This new distribution center is part of SPX’s supply chain improvement plan, targeted to enhance our total client service.”
